CREATIVE INTERPRETATION - Fine motor building.

Before children can learn to write their name, or draw a picture that resembles figures and objects, they need to first build the small muscles in their hands and train them to work together to perform precise and refined movements. Without this solid foundation the more integrated motor skills required as they get older will not be formed.

Most children will begin painting and drawing with up, down and round movements that may resemble scribbling or not much at all. This is the first stage of building the control necessary to start forming other more defined lines and shapes. This is why we provide a wide range of experiences, tools and materials on a daily basis to ensure that children are given every opportunity to achieve their fine motor development. Outcome 3 – Children have a strong sense of wellbeing. Outcome 3 – Children take increasing responsibility when they manipulate equipment and manage tools with increasing competence and skill.
